Massage & manipulation therapy
There are many different types of massage and manipulation therapies available to correct and maintain the skeleton and overlying musculature. These include physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic [diagnoses, treats and relieves disease problems by manipulation of body structures, particularly the spinal vertebrae].
All three therapies aim at lessening inflammation and pain whilst promoting healing. This is achieved by reducing biomechanical constraints which may be generating or maintaining pain, whilst preventing the occurrence of secondary problems.
The use of therapists can be incredibly beneficial in the treatment and management of athletic horses.
