The Equine Pain and Welfare App (EPWA) is a supportive resource which can be used as a tool to assist clinicians, nurses and horse/donkey owners in the recognition and monitoring of pain, driving improved welfare in equids. It provides a simple, accessible tool allowing a horse or donkey’s pain to be objectively measured using a Composite Pain Scale or Facial Expressions.
