Establishing an exercise plan
Following consultation, a vet should provide a detailed exercise plan for returning the horse to work. This regime must build workload gradually and may need to be amended if the horse works better or worse than expected. It is far better to extend the period of convalescence than attempt to rush the recovery. However, some conditions will benefit from increased exercise in the early stages of recovery.
As each case will exhibit its own individual characteristics, it is important to follow the guidelines provided by your vet.
