Laser therapy

The use of lasers involves the transfer of light into an affected area.

Low energy lasers can only penetrate short distances into the skin and subcutaneous tissues. As a result, they only have a role in healing superficial wounds. Lasers act to stimulate tissue ions and may encourage the synthesis of beneficial prostaglandins to reduce inflammation. They also provide analgesia through the central “gate control”.
